Mechanism of Action
This ingredient operates as a derivative of Tripeptide-1 (Glycine-Histidine-Lysine, or GHK) linked with thioctic acid. The GHK component acts as a fragment of type I collagen, signaling the skin to enhance its natural collagen production, which can visibly reduce wrinkles. It also functions as a carrier peptide, facilitating the delivery and stabilization of copper within the skin, forming Copper-Tripeptide-1 (GHK-Cu). Beyond structural support, THIOCTOYL TRIPEPTIDE-1 scavenges Reactive Carbonyl Species (RCS), mitigating visible signs of premature aging induced by pollution and photo-aging. It stimulates the synthesis of extracellular matrix components, including collagen, hyaluronic acid, and other glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), while also protecting and stabilizing existing collagen fibers through an anti-collagenase effect. Furthermore, it offers protection against UVA-induced DNA damage in the skin.
