The maximum reported use for a related lactylate in rinse-off products is 10%, while for leave-on products, related lactylates have maximum reported concentrations ranging from 1.9% to 6.1%. Some related lactylates (Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate and Sodium Caproyl/Lauroyl Lactylate) have been identified as weak to weak-moderate skin sensitizers in certain tests. Its use is approved by the EU Cosmetic Regulation.
