Serica Powder maintains optimal function and stability within a pH range of 4.0 to 7.0; degradation may occur outside this window. For optimal incorporation, it is recommended to add Serica Powder at a rate of 2-5% by weight during the cool-down phase of heated formulations (below 110°C). In cold process formulations, it should be integrated directly into the water phase. It demonstrates good compatibility with a wide array of cosmetic bases, color additives, essential oils, and fragrance oils.

It is considered to be, at most, a mild skin irritant with no significant skin sensitization potential. While generally well-tolerated, rare instances of contact urticaria due to silk have been reported. The highest reported maximum concentration for Serica Powder in leave-on face powders is 1.4%.
