Its active metabolite, rhapontigenin, is believed to directly inhibit melanin synthesis. Furthermore, Raponticin has shown anti-tyrosinase activity and suppresses α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) production, leading to skin-lightening and protective effects against UV-induced damage.
