The highest reported concentration specifically for PPG-8-Ceteth-20 was 0.19% in spray deodorants. While generally considered safe with a low irritancy rating by INCIDecoder, rare individual reactions like skin irritation or allergic responses may occur, especially in those with sensitive skin; a sensitivity test is therefore advisable. Concerns regarding potential contamination by ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane, common byproducts of ethoxylation, were addressed by the CIR Panel, noting that these larger molecules are less likely to penetrate the skin and are typically used at lower concentrations compared to other PEG/PPG ingredients.
