The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel has concluded that PPGs, including PPG-12, are safe for use in cosmetic formulations when they are manufactured and formulated to be nonirritating. There are low concerns for general use restrictions and irritation (skin, eyes, or lungs); however, the full weight of evidence for irritation is currently unassessed by CIR. The U.S. FDA also designates PPG-12 as safe for general or specific, limited use in food applications.
