Mechanism of Action
This extract is suggested to reduce hyperpigmentation by influencing cellular pathways responsible for uneven skin tone, sun spots, and melasma. It can inhibit lipoxygenase activity, thereby reducing sebum production and treating the appearance of oily skin. Furthermore, its ability to inhibit MMP-1 activity suggests a mechanism for reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. It also protects skin cells by reducing oxidative damage from reactive oxygen species and has demonstrated antimicrobial efficacy against *Escherichia coli* and *Staphylococcus aureus*.
