A critical restriction is that the ingredient must be supplied with no residual isocyanate or other monomers, as these are associated with occupational asthma, irritant and allergic contact dermatitis, and skin irritation. Formulators are advised to exercise caution if polymers are supplied with other sensitizers, such as methylisothiazolinone (MI), to prevent combining multiple solutions that could lead to a significant sensitizing concentration.
