PLATINUM THIOETHYLAMINO HYALURONIC ACID.

Avoid / SKIN CONDITIONING

This advanced derivative combines the intensive hydrating power of hyaluronic acid with platinum thioethylamino modification. It is designed to deliver potent humectant action alongside potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Humectant Antioxidant Anti-inflammatory Skin Smoothing Wrinkle Reduction Promotes Cell Growth Aids Wound Healing

Science

As a hyaluronic acid derivative, it functions as a highly effective humectant, capable of binding over 1000 times its weight in water, thereby enhancing skin smoothness, softening, and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Depending on its molecular weight, it can provide surface hydration or stimulate deeper cellular processes such as keratinocyte proliferation and angiogenesis. The platinum component, likely in nanoparticle form, contributes significant antioxidant properties by neutralizing free radicals to combat skin aging, and also exhibits anti-inflammatory effects to support overall skin health.

Stability

Optimal stability for general hyaluronic acid solutions is observed between pH 5.0 and 8.0; conditions outside this range may compromise water-binding capabilities. Recommended storage is in a cool, dry environment, ideally between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius, as temperatures exceeding 25 degrees Celsius can lead to denaturation. The thiol modification in this ingredient may enhance the physical stability of associated nanoparticles.

Safety

CIR Status
Not reviewed
Sensitization risk Unknown

The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) has deemed a full safety assessment for nanomaterials like 'Gold Thioethylamino Hyaluronic Acid (nano)' and 'Platinum (nano)' unfeasible due to insufficient data. Concerns include potential systemic uptake and accumulation in organs such as the liver and spleen, alongside possible mutagenic or genotoxic effects. Consequently, as of February 2025, 'Platinum (nano)' and 'Gold Thioethylamino Hyaluronic Acid (nano)' have been banned from cosmetic use within the European Union. While the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel has found general hyaluronic acid to be safe for use up to 2%, this assessment does not cover its platinum-modified form.
