It also enhances the expression of key skin barrier proteins, including aquaporin 3, loricrin, filaggrin, and involucrin in keratinocytes, thereby promoting superior moisture retention and deep hydration, partially through aquaporin channels. Additionally, it contributes antioxidant and anti-aging benefits. The PEG-75 component, an ethoxylation with 75 units, renders beta-sitosterol water-dispersible, functioning as an effective emulsifier and surfactant to create stable formulations, improve ingredient distribution, and aid skin hydration by forming hydrogen bonds and reducing water evaporation.
