Mechanism of Action
Functioning as a mild, nonionic surfactant, PEG-30 Glyceryl Soyate facilitates emulsion formation by lowering surface tension between immiscible components. As a PEG derivative, it exhibits versatile properties, acting as an emulsifier, cleansing agent, humectant, and skin conditioner. It actively retains moisture by creating hydrogen bonds with water molecules and mitigating evaporative loss, thereby improving the appearance of dry or compromised skin by reducing flaking and promoting suppleness. Additionally, PEGs may augment skin penetration, an effect influenced by molecular structure, formulation constituents, and skin integrity.

Safety Profile
The CIR Expert Panel affirms the safety of PEG-30 Glyceryl Soyate for cosmetic application. While ethoxylation may produce trace amounts of 1,4-dioxane, this impurity can be effectively managed through standard purification processes. Caution is advised for use on non-intact or damaged skin due to potentially enhanced penetration, which in extreme, high-exposure cases (e.g., burn patients) has shown kidney toxicity; however, this effect is not observed on healthy, intact skin.
