As a polyethylene glycol, PEG-10 functions to attract and draw moisture from the environment to the skin's surface, contributing to hydration, and serves as a solvent to effectively dissolve other components within a formulation. The derivative, PEG-10 Dimethicone, specifically forms a breathable, conditioning film on the skin. This film provides lubrication, protects the skin by reducing transepidermal water loss and blocking harmful external substances, and imparts a silky, non-greasy feel while enhancing product flow and application. It also acts as a vehicle to improve the delivery and penetration of other active ingredients.
