Key findings

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) considers it safe as a food supplement for adults (excluding pregnant/lactating women) at doses up to 350 mg/day, advising caution for pregnant/lactating individuals. In vivo dermal toxicity studies indicated a non-observed adverse effect level (NOAEL) up to 1,000 mg/kg, suggesting general safety for skin application at appropriate concentrations.
