While RIFM classifies it as a sensitizer with a No Expected Sensitization Induction Level (NESIL) of 550 μg/cm², human studies at 2760 µg/cm² showed no sensitization, and no irritation or sensitization was observed at 4%. The maximum acceptable concentration for face/body products is 0.25%.
