Mechanism of Action
NK-CdM operates through several precise pathways to optimize skin health. It actively neutralizes reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby mitigating oxidative stress and protecting against UVB-induced cellular damage. This action is supported by an observed upregulation of crucial antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) and catalase (CAT). Furthermore, NK-CdM preserves the integrity of the skin barrier by preventing the decline of key proteins like filaggrin and involucrin, while simultaneously improving hydration by enhancing hyaluronan synthase (HAS) activity (HAS1, HAS2, HAS3) and aquaporin-3 levels. It boosts the production of essential lipids, upregulating elongation of very long chain fatty acids (ELOVL1, ELOVL5, ELOVL6) and ceramide synthases (CerS2, CerS3). For anti-aging and regeneration, it promotes epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) to support wound healing, reducing metalloproteinase (MMP)-1 and MMP-2 to attenuate wrinkle formation and encourage cell migration.
