Furthermore, it enhances type 1 procollagen production to support skin structure and inhibits tyrosinase activity, which contributes to skin brightening. It also initiates endoplasmic reticulum stress, fostering differentiation in keratinocytes by upregulating ATF4 signaling and activating markers like involucrin and filaggrin.

It is susceptible to slow hydrolysis in water and rapidly degrades upon exposure to heat or chlorine. Under alkaline (high pH) conditions, it undergoes structural rearrangement into less biologically active compounds. Aqueous solutions are not recommended for storage exceeding one day, and improper water addition may induce recrystallization. While sparingly soluble in water (5 g/L at 20 °C), it dissolves well in various organic solvents such as ethanol, DMSO, and acetone.
