Mechanism of Action
This extract combats oxidative stress through a rich profile of flavonoids, phenolic acids, ellagitannins, and proanthocyanidins, including protection against UVA-induced free radical damage. Its antimelanogenic action stems from inhibiting tyrosinase, the enzyme crucial for melanin synthesis, partly by quenching copper ions. Tannins contribute to an astringent effect, refining skin texture and minimizing the appearance of pores, while compounds like agrimoniin confer anti-inflammatory benefits against UVB exposure. Saccharides and ellagic acid also provide hydration and soothing properties.

Closely related Fragaria Vesca Fruit Extract is considered safe with low irritation and sensitization potential, and is not phototoxic. The extract has also been classified as 'safe (Class 1)' with no expected clinically relevant interactions.
