Mechanism of Action
This fruit extract acts as a potent antioxidant, neutralizing harmful free radicals and shielding the skin from environmental stressors. Its efficacy is partly attributed to oxidoreductase enzymes such as Superoxide Dismutase, Catalase, and Peroxidase, which provide enzymatic defense against reactive oxygen species. It exerts anti-inflammatory and soothing properties by inhibiting protein denaturation and protease activity, thereby reducing skin discomfort. For anti-aging, it stimulates collagen production and supports skin regeneration, which helps to tighten the skin and diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The extract also enhances skin moisturization by reinforcing the natural moisture barrier, leading to a softer and smoother texture. Furthermore, its constituent, trans-anethole, inhibits UV-induced melanogenesis by blocking ORAI1 currents. It also offers a mild antiseptic and purifying action and may exhibit estrogen-mimicking effects.

Key findings
- 01 Demonstrated significant anti-aging effects, notably improving skin moisture levels and reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL).
- 02 Applied topically, significantly reduced hair thickness after 24 weeks in women experiencing mild to moderate idiopathic hirsutism.
- 03 Exhibited inhibitory effects on ORAI1, successfully inhibiting UV-induced melanogenesis without affecting tyrosinase activity.
- 04 Achieved a maximum inhibition of protein denaturation of 35.68±0.40%, indicating anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting protein denaturation and protease activity.
