However, Cholesterol, from which Choleth-20 is derived, has been deemed safe for cosmetic use, with maximum reported concentrations up to 3% in foundations and 0.25% in moisturizers. A related ingredient, Choleth-24, was found safe when formulated to be non-irritating.
