Ceramide AP, also known as Ceramide 6-II, is a synthetic, skin-identical ceramide that integrates seamlessly into the stratum corneum, the skin's outermost layer. It functions as a critical component, acting like 'mortar' between skin cells to rebuild and strengthen the skin barrier, enhancing powerful intercellular connections. This action effectively reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and significantly boosts skin hydration by organizing surrounding lipids into functional layers. Beyond barrier repair, Ceramide AP aids in regulating cell turnover, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, calming inflammation, and offering robust protection against external aggressors like pollution and UV exposure. It further promotes skin regeneration and has been shown to stimulate collagen production.
