Mechanism of Action
This oil functions by stimulating fibroblast proliferation and cell renewal, which significantly enhances the synthesis of collagen and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). It exerts a localized anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-1b and TNF-a while promoting M2 macrophage polarization; additionally, its unique bioactive markers, calophyllolide and calophyllic acid, provide innate antimicrobial and antifungal properties.

Key findings
- 01 In vitro scratch assays revealed that concentrations as low as 0.1% can accelerate wound closure by factors 1.3 to 2.1 times higher than untreated controls.
- 02 Topical application at 100% concentration demonstrated visible reduction in the appearance and texture of scars older than one year over a 6 to 9-week period.
- 03 Advanced nanoemulsion formulations at 7.31% have been shown to optimize fibroblast migration and cellular viability for enhanced barrier recovery.

Dusting Analysis
Because clinical efficacy in wound closure is observed at levels as low as 0.1%, it is difficult to classify this as 'dusted' if present at measurable amounts; however, marketing-led formulations may include it below 0.05% purely for label claims.
The Formula
Formulation
Stability
Highly susceptible to oxidative rancidity due to a high polyunsaturated fatty acid profile. Formulations must be stabilized with antioxidants, stored at room temperature, and protected from UV light to prevent degradation.
Synergies
- Vitamin E (Tocopherol) for oxidative stability
- Ceramides for enhanced barrier repair
- Linoleic acid-rich oils
Conflicts
- Strong oxidizing agents
Safety
Safety Profile
Generally non-sensitizing and non-irritating; however, the oil must be fresh and properly stabilized, as oxidized oils can cause skin reactivity.
