Mechanism of Action
The Porphyra yezoensis component operates by suppressing the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR) signaling pathway, effectively reducing xenobiotic response element (XRE) promoter activity and cytochrome P450 1A1 (CYP1A1) expression. This action significantly decreases reactive oxygen species (ROS) production induced by urban particulate matter (UPM) and inhibits AhR nuclear translocation, providing robust anti-inflammatory and antioxidant protection. Furthermore, it modulates cell viability and apoptosis pathways (JNK/ERK) and redox status, offering defense against UVB-induced damage. Arginine, a key Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), boosts skin hydration and supports wound healing. It can also complex with Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) for a controlled, 'time-release' exfoliation effect with reduced irritation.
