Rich in moisturizing polysaccharides (e.g., arabinose, fucoidans, carrageenan) and amino acids, algae varieties hydrate the skin by attracting and retaining moisture, acting as both humectants and occlusives to enhance barrier function. Additionally, they possess anti-inflammatory properties by lowering nitric oxide levels and modulating immune responses, and some types exhibit skin-brightening effects through melanin and tyrosinase inhibition.
