A 500 mg application on rabbit skin demonstrated mild irritation, while 0.5 mL of undiluted thiodiglycol induced a serious reaction in rabbit eyes. It was not identified as a skin sensitizer in animal models. A 90-day oral subchronic toxicity study in rats established a No-Observed-Adverse-Effect Level (NOAEL) for oral toxicity at 500 mg/kg/day.
