Safety Profile
The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel assessed a group of 18 polysilsesquioxanes, concluding that these ingredients are generally safe as used in cosmetics. While POLYPHENYLSILSESQUIOXANE/TRIMETHYLSILOXYSILICATE was not individually reviewed, a closely related compound, Polymethylsilsesquioxane/Trimethylsiloxysilicate, showed no sensitizing potential in a Human Repeat Insult Patch Test (HRIPT) when supplied at 50% in cyclopentasiloxane.
