Upon topical application, it is metabolized into phytanic acid, which further upregulates PPAR responsive genes, leading to improved skin barrier function and moisture retention. Additionally, it exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and metabolism-modulating effects, contributing to a reduction in oxidative stress.
