Stability
Similar to its related compound, Pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PETA), this ingredient exhibits light sensitivity. Formulations incorporating it typically require the addition of polymerization inhibitors, such as monomethyl ether hydroquinone (MEHQ), to prevent premature polymerization and ensure product stability.

Safety Profile
The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel has not specifically reviewed PEG-4/PPG-1 PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAACRYLATE. While some related PEG compounds have been assessed as safe, a closely related tetrafunctional acrylate ester, Pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PETA), is classified by OSHA as a hazardous substance. PETA is known to cause irritation to the eyes, respiratory system, and skin, and carries a significant risk of skin sensitization. Furthermore, multifunctional acrylates in general are associated with inducing skin disorders and inflammation.

Verdict
Given the absence of a specific safety assessment for this ingredient in skincare applications and the known irritation and sensitization potential of related acrylate esters, its use is strongly discouraged for topical formulations.
