Safety Profile
While authorized for use in all cosmetic product types within the EU, and in externally applied drugs (including the eye area), mouthwashes, and dentifrices by the FDA, the synthetic form of CI 73000 has demonstrated strong mutagenic effects in bacterial assays. Furthermore, a comprehensive skin permeation study is identified as a necessary step for complete safety assessment. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) has not yet evaluated this ingredient.
