Stability
CI 62045 demonstrates robust stability for up to 7 years when stored appropriately in a well-sealed container, protected from light and moisture. However, in aqueous solutions at concentrations of 23 mg/ml and 236 mg/ml, approximately 5% degradation was observed over an 8-day period.
Conflicts
- As a secondary amine, CI 62045 is prone to nitrosation. Formulations must strictly maintain nitrosamine content below 50 ppb to ensure safety.
Safety
Safety Profile
CI 62045 is regulated in Europe (listed in Annex IV, Part 1 of the EC Cosmetics Regulation) and Brazil, permitted as a coloring agent for cosmetic products intended for brief skin contact. It is deemed safe for use in semi-permanent and temporary hair dye formulations at a maximum concentration of 0.5% in the final product, provided nitrosamine levels do not exceed 50 ppb. While a 1.5% concentration was non-irritant to rabbit skin, it showed slight irritation to rabbit eyes at the same concentration.
