CETYLAMINE HYDROFLUORIDE.

Valuable CAS 3151-59-5 / ANTIPLAQUE, ORAL CARE

A high-performance amine fluoride surfactant designed for advanced oral care and enamel fortification. It provides a dual-action benefit by facilitating the deposition of a protective mineral reservoir and exhibiting targeted bacteriostatic properties.

antiplaque oral care enamel remineralization desensitizing agent

Science

As a cationic surfactant, it utilizes a positively charged amine group to ensure superior spreading and adhesion to oral surfaces. It reacts with calcium in the teeth to precipitate a calcium fluoride (CaF2) depot, which acts as a sacrificial layer against acid erosion while inhibiting the bacterial enzyme enolase to disrupt plaque metabolism.

Key findings

  1. 01 Demonstrated significant fluoride uptake in demineralized dentine and enamel, resulting in reduced caries incidence (UCL Discovery, 2005).
  2. 02 Proven effective at 0.2% concentration for the immediate and long-term reduction of cervical dentin hypersensitivity over a 6-month period (SciELO, 2010).

Due to strict EU regulatory limits (0.15% as Fluorine), this ingredient is typically used at its maximum functional concentration. Formulations containing less than 0.1% may fail to provide the necessary fluoride 'depot' required for remineralization.
