This copolymer utilizes a cationic charge-based mechanism. The positively charged guanidinium groups exert an electrostatic pull on the negatively charged phospholipids and lipopolysaccharides of microbial cell membranes, physically disrupting their integrity to cause rapid cellular expiration.
